Trip to the Laundromat [23 Jun 2006|10:16pm]
[ mood | cheerful ]

So Christina and I decided to be useful around the house today and do some stuff for Mom while she was at work. The following is a bit of our day.

Adventures in White Suburban Privilege:

Mission: Christina and Melissa must bring sleeping bags to the laundromat because their home washer and dryer are not big enough.

Christina: Oh, wait! We need to bring detergent to the laundromat.
Melissa: We do?
Christina: I think so? ... Yes, we do.
Melissa: Oh yeah, that's right too. I saw it on Friends once.

Hhahha ohh yes. Love it.

Good day.

[ mood | enthralled ]

So here I am on my laptop at the dinning room table...

And I'm all ready and packed to go to PARIS AND LONDON!!

I'm wicked excited. I packed so many things of clothes. I went onto Weatherchannel.com to look up the weather but it's still hard to figure out exactly how the weather is and stuff.

AHHHH! Yay! I can't believe I'm ACTUALLY going!

Well, I must go pack a few last minute things...goodbye everyone! Hope you all have a great vacation! I shall post pictures when I get back!!

And bye to Christina and Jess too! I talked to Christina this morning, but I haven't talked to Jess in a while!!!

ADIOS!!

New laptop [26 Feb 2006|11:56pm]
[ mood | satisfied ]

So I type this entry from my new laptop, which I got last week.

It's a tablet...which means the screen folds down so I can write on it and take notes and fun stuff like that. Let me see if I can find a picture or link to show you all...

i.i.com.com/cnwk.1d/ sc/31517730-2-120-0.gif

did that work? I'm kind of too lazy to check.

I really like it, but it takes some getting used to. And of course I have to transfer everything from my computer to this.

I loved yesterday. Saba and I went over Erica's and just hung around. Sweatpants, junk food, and Ever After. Fun times, let me tell you. Pictures to come when I upload them. We just talked about everything and anything. I don't have to do things or go out with friends, cause lazing around is good too. There is such a limit on what we can do around here anyway.

It's pretty darn late, so I'm going to bed. I'm going shopping tomorrow with Saba and Jenna!

I need a prom dress. Everyone seems to have prom fever.

[29 Jan 2006|10:02pm]
Spent the day with Andy visiting Christina at Tufts yesterday. Pictures and details to come!!

I'm liking my new classes so far. I switched out of stats and into sociology, THANK GOODNESS!!! I love sociology and there are some great people in it. Psych is wicked packed now, it's insane. But it's not as close as it used to be. It just seemed more informal before and now it's just big. But I have to give it time, and hopefully things will even out. We still have out coffee days and those are all that matter.

Human Health and Disease is alright, but wicked fun people (Kait, Kate, Kailyn, Pat, and Brit) so that will rock. Ms. Merry I think will drive me crazy sometimes, but oh well.

I have to go "read" for psych. I'm trying to start the semester off on the right foot, since I rarely read the chapters last semester. I think Alexis is the only one who actually keeps up with the reading.

Bonfire crew [16 Jan 2006|12:19am]
[ mood | pleased ]

Had the bonfire crew over my house tonight...including Kate and Andrew, Kate, Jackie, Jenna, Kelly, Jay, Brittany, and Dennis.

Only it was WICKED cold, so instead we just hung out in my basement.

It was very fun, we watched the classic, 10 Things I Hate About you, which is AMAZING, and then decided we need a 90's movie night. We played, or rather, Jay, Andrew, Dennis, and Kate played air hockey while the rest of us played DDR. My brother came down and showed my friends his mad skills. Let me tell you, Pat, I'm sure, is no comparison.

We had an awesome time. After a few people left, Jay, Kelly, Me, and Dennis, and Brit until she left, sat around and we talked for a bit. We also tried playing DDR sitting down. That didn't go so well.

Perhaps I'll post pictures...we'll see.

Babysitting tomorrow.

FINALLY some money!

I'm so tired...I've had company from Friday straight through to just now. Let me tell you, it's exhausting.

Jess came over for dinner Friday night, then she, Christina, and I went to go see Brokeback Mountain. Let me tell you, that movie was very good. I loved the music, and it was so sad. Such a good plot. I reccommend it. Christina ordered the soundtrack, so yay!

We got home at what, like 12:30? And Christina and I decided the fog was waaaayy too thick for Jess to drive home in so she slept over. We slept until like noon on Saturday. We hung out, my family and I cleaned for our coming relatives, Jess left at like 4:00?

Within like 5 minutes of her leaving, my aunt(Auntie Barb) and cousin (Jacquie) from New Jersey arrived. We went out to eat with them and they stayed the night as well. Only Jacquie's dog came along too, and pooped like 4 times in our house within the time they were here. Crazy.

They left around 3, but Andy's friend Matt came up and stayed until...6?

We got an hour for dinner and then the bonfire crew came.

I'm a very tired girl right now...

And of course, I require a LOT of sleep to function properly. Seriously like 10 hours every night to actually keep my brain in check.

But it was a fun weekend. I hate to see it end and have to deal with finals.

My birthday! [08 Dec 2005|05:34pm]
[ mood | grateful ]

I turned 18 today!

Saba and Erica surprised me last weekend, on Saturday for my birthday surprise. Saba dropped off a present at like 7:30 in the morning and a sketchy letter saying I needed to wear the stuff in the box and to shave my legs. I of course didn't get this until I woke up later. It ended up being this cute little shirt, some bangle braceletts, and a lip gloss set. It was crazy. So I got all dressed up and finally Saba and Erica showed up, looking fabulous and like they were ready to go clubbing, and drove me to....Erica's house. I was really confused, why should I get dressed up to go there?! There, we had cake and opened up a few more presents they got for me. We hung around and Erica mysteriously left to "put the stuff in the car" while Saba kept me occupied watching shows on VH1.

After a while we loaded into the car and I was given strict orders not to peak in the basket in the back seat. I was like Umm, I hope we aren't going on a picnic cause that would be kinda COLD!

We started driving down 111 and that got me confused again. Erica and Saba are NOT good with directions, so I was thinking, "I hope they know where they are going!"

They ended up turning into a salon! It's like the Soleil Salon or something like that. I was so shocked!

We went in, and they told me we were going to get pedicures! So we picked our colors, and went into some private room and we all got our own cushioned seats to sit on (I've never gotten a pedicure before, I always think I can just do them myself!) They had packed food for us, like chocolate covered strawberries Erica made, grapes, Mrs. Mawby's AMAZING cheese ball, some chocolate smores treat, and sparkling cider. The ladies put on a CD Erica made that morning that had a bunch of songs we love on it.

I got my first pedicure with my two best friends! It was so much fun and I love my girls for it. They wanted to take me out for dinner, but I had to babysit, so I took a rain check on that one.

I've been pointing out my toenails to everyone, so stick with me if I shove my feet in your face, not literally of course. Even Mr. Golden said to me this morning, "wow you have good friends!!" Yup, I KNOW!

Today the gang gave me food, earrings, cards, bath stuff, all that sort of deal. And I got a lot of birthday wishes and presents from the everyone. I love them all.

lennoncmk: now you can have sex with heath ledger

Yup, thank you Christina.

Adios everyone!!

[30 Sep 2005|08:17pm]
[ mood | irritated ]
[ music | Collide *Howie Day* ]

It's been quite the week.

I think ever since Saba declared she wanted a drama-free senior year, things when downhill. Poor Brit and Erica. Things just aren't working out. Brit was so upset because Mr. Early messed up her reccommendation. Or at least I hope he messed it up.

There is this kid in my Hero's Lit and Film class, he's a junior. Well, first, let me explain our Lit groups. The class was divided into four groups and each group is reading a different book. We obviously had four to choose from, including Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, The Fellowship of the Rings, The Hobbit, or Farenheit 451. Within these groups we are supposed to assigned readings for homework, write journal entries about our readings, come up with questions throughout the reading, and then discuss the questions in our groups. I definitely chose Harry Potter because what is more amazing that that series? So Lauren, Jackie, and Doug joined me. Unfortunately the Harry Potter fans end there. There are numerous other memebers in our group who don't read and hate Harry Potter. Why join that group? I don't know. But I can deal with people who have different opinions than I do, if you don't like it, then it's not your thing.

But this one stupid kid gets really obnoxious. He is rude and gets very arrogant. He also seems to have an obsession with the word Gay. He wrote a note to Doug saying, "your gay". I told Doug to write back, "you wish" on it. Steve got annoyed and crumpled it up. But today he kept saying "oh, that's gay," or "your a fag" (and he spelled it that way, I happen to know that the "your" should be spelled "you're", so don't have a heart attack Christina) and things like that. Okay now buddy, guess what, the assignment doesn't like other assignments of the same sex. Stop using that as an insult. He kept saying how people who are gay are messed up and stupid. Thank goodness no one who was gay was around cause it just wouldn't have been pretty. Sophomore year we were in American Studies and got onto the topic of gay rights. Claire was in our class, and Lindsay B. started off on how it's wrong morally and all this other religious stuff. Okay, that's your opinion, but she went too far. Mr. Golden had to stop her and change ths subject.

It's like people who say "that's retarded". Maybe this is just me as a teacher-in-training, but there are people who are mentally retarded and can't help it. It's not their fault and people using retarded as an insult makes me angry, or at least annoyed. When I actually have to refer to someone who is mentally retarded, I'm almost afraid to say it because I don't want people to think I'm insulting the person and saying they are stupid.

Blaah.

Busy weekend ahead. Collecting money for the Breast cancer walk. Donations anyone?

Okay, Jon Estes just imed me. He definitely moved to Florida like two or three years ago. Why did he IM me you may ask? Ohh to tell me about how he went to court today because he was driving his drunk friend home in his friend's car. His friend had weed and weapons in the back and they got pulled over for a broken tail light. I was like, ummm okkaaay. Sounds like a party. Now he gets drug tested weekly, his curfew is 9, and if he does anything bad for a year he goes to jail. Par-tay.

Anyone want to join the Tutoring Program? Visit our website! We can always use tutors. Or if you need help we'd be happy to set you up as well.

I'm ready for the college application process to be over.

Saba totally got a bright orange parking violation smack dab in the middle of her front window today. But she definitely has a parking pass.....? She was so mad. And I think the parking violation could be a danger when she's driving because its on the driver's side of the car, right where you would look out to check for cars. I told her to go fight her car up at the parking pass lady's office. If they make stupid mistakes like that maybe they should take off the sticker.

Ohh and as I walked into the house today, the phone was ringing, and I hear my mom read, "Rouillard?" off of the caller ID thing. I was like what/?!! We weren't sure so we let the answering machine get it. There was silence for a second and then the person hung up. I looked up the history and sure enough, it was Mirielle's number. It was so odd. We kinda...grew apart after freshman year because that was the last time we had a class together. Sophomore year we taught dance classes together, so we talked occasionally about things here and there, and last year I barely saw her. This year she's in 4 of my dance classes, so we talk. But it's like we never stopped talking. It just seems weird talking to an old best friend as just a casual friend. Anyone know what I'm talking about?

I see signs for sending in pictures of old Salem/Windham memories. I have a bunch from Bournedale with like Me, Rachel Eno, Mirielle, Sarah Scire, Al Coakley, Lane Wunderli, and...I think that's most of the gang in those pictures. I also have a bunch from the last day of 6th grade with like Nadine Kassis, Saba, Me, Rachel Normington, Rachel Eno, Amy Yang, Al Coakley, Kelly Rincon, Cassandra Mooshian, Mirielle, Caitlin Endyke, Biz, Jon Estes, and Lane Wunderli. Five of those people don't go to Salem High, so I'm not sure I can enter them. What would be the point? I guess I'll just have to find pictures of people other than the people who went to different schools. Hahha actually I have a whole bunch from decorating for the graduation dinner dance and Hampton.

AHH! I just found a picture of Kareem! Hahah man, what a good kid.

Alright, I'll stop with the depressing old time talk.

Oh so I'm really jealous of anyone who went to the Paul McCartney concert the other night. One person in particular who was absent from psych the following day....

Andy, Christina, and I are going to see Harry and the Potters on Sunday. Andy and I are going to meet Christina and hang out with her and see them. I have yet to see them live.

Par-tay!

Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire movie comes out in November. I'm SOOO EXCITED!! The new trailer was released a little while ago, ohh man. I love Harry Potter.

Alright, this is long enough.

Mrs. Murray told me I write too much. I was doing a project in Early CHildhood and she looked at my descriptions for the different stages of drawing, and she said "Briefly describe Melissa, I don't want paragraphs. A sentence or two! BRIEFLY!"

My dad has also made several references to that fact that I talk a lot. I guess I do!

Alright, I'm done, I swear.

[ music | Avocado-Devito or some stupid song Andy is playing... ]

That's right folks, I'm still alive.

And it's the weekend. I am quite relieved, since I have SOOO much to do this weekend. Curse my teachers for loading on homework.

I like songs with words, this whole "Avacado Devito" thing Andy is playing is not working with me. It's 17 MINUTES LONG! And for the record its actually called Anacara Devita or something like that.

It's a sad day when I can no longer find Slice and Bake cookies with the little shapes inside of them. I <3 those, and yet they are no where to be found. Instead I have some other kind...the break and bake ones just don't cut it.

I hate not knowing who to get/make presents for during the holidays. It's just so awkward when someone is like "Here ya go!" And you are like umm....thaanks...I have a...candy cane? But making lots of fudge is on my To-Do list this weekend, along with many other things. That way I don't go broke and I can have plenty of extras.

I have reason to believe I have psoriasis, which is caused by....just guess...dry, cold weather....and STRESS!! Hmm awesome. That's not only ANOTHER skin problem, but another stress-related problem. I get Eczema in the summer, all over, and psoriasis in the winter! Hmm me and my dermatology problems. And plus I'm sure it look absolutely lovely to everyone else. The little girls I teach dance to are like
-"what's on your elbow?"
-"It's just this rash type of thing I have Caitlin."
-"EWWWW, can I catch it?"
-"No, don't worry, you can't."
Hmmm fun.

I loooove the Muppets Christmas CD with John Denver that I have. It makes me so happy. The Muppets are amazing.

I need to decorate my Christmas tree!

AND MICHELLE!! You and your balloons!! Those stupid things kept flying out my car door so i couldn't shut it! It took us like 5 tries! I was like OMG!!

But it was an amazing day anyway. ANd we watched Stand and Deliver, FINALLY! ANd laughed loudly for the next door class. Cause it was WAR!

I'm 17! Isn't that weird? I can see R-rated movies by myself now if I wanted.

It's pretty bad when a 7 year old notices the bags under your eyes.

Madison: "Miss Melissa, what is that black stuff under your eyes?"
Me: (Looking in the mirror) "Oh my...that's just because I've been very tired lately. Go sit down Madison."

I got my junior prom dress and I <3 it. It was also on sale. THAT made me happy. I have to sell the other one I got and ended up not liking. Yay for ebay.

Christina and I took lots of fun pictures in the car on the way back from getting our christmas tree today. It was quite amusing. Perhaps I shall put some up later.

I've been having pains in my jaw, and my parents thought perhaps it was my wisdom teeth. So I went to the dentist, and apparently she thinks its a muscle that is irritated cause i'm stressed. So I grit my teeth, and end up with this irritated muscle that hurts. I was telling Christina that I should tell my teachers to stop with all the homework cause its affecting my health, because when my mouth hurts, I can't eat! and if I don't eat, I die! Therefore, they could be the cause of my death! And now that I know, I actually catch myself clenching my teeth a lot. Especially in the car or in class.

I'm quite tired. Good night all.

P.S.

WE GET TO WATCH A MOVIE IN PRE CALC ON TUESDAY!! YES!! How AMAZING is that?!?! Michelle we shall have to laugh as loud as possible for Strout's class.

The Salem High school band was SUPPOSED to be on NESN because they went up to Montreal to play in the halftime show for some Canadian football team. I was looking forward to seeing them ALL afternoon.

As the halftime show approaches, I can see the familiar bando uniforms on the side lines, and the pit setting up their instruments. I was like yay!! Here they come!

BUT OH WAIT!

Once the halftime show does come, what do they show?! NOT THE BAND!! They go to commercial. So I'm like alright, they are just taking a break, they'll be on after the commercial....BUT NO

They insist on replaying those stupid shots of each goal the football players made. They even showed some replays from LAST YEAR. WHY?!?! I DON'T KNOW!! They didn't show even like 2 minutes of the band!!

HOW CHEAP!

I'm very insulted and I'm sure the band will be too when they come home.

Christina has decided to write to NESN:

To Whom it May Concern,

I would like to express my disappointment with the fact that you did not show the Salem, NH High School band's halftime performance in the game between the Montreal and Toronto football teams currently being broadcast. My brother is in the band and since I am away at college, I never get to see him perform. When I heard that my brother, performing with my old high school's band, was going to be on TV, I tuned in, eagerly anticipating the halftime show. But all you showed was some commentary on the first half, and the band was not shown on television. I am VERY disappointed in your decision not to show the band. They work very hard, traveled all the way from Southern New Hampshire to Montreal to perform, and then they are not even acknowledged! They deserve to be showcased, but you did not grant them their due respect. This angers me, as I'm sure it has angered many people in my hometown, and it has turned me off of NESN. Not everyone can afford to travel all the way to Montreal to watch their family members perform. For some, including myself, this would be the only time they get to see the band perform, and we were all gravely disappointed. For you to assume that all of your viewers would rather see a bunch of men comment on the first half of the football game, instead of watching a high school band perform the routine they have worked so hard to perfect, is a serious mistake on your part. Please rethink your policies regarding airtime of bands in halftime shows.

Thank you,
Christina Kalenderian
Student, Tufts University

I <3 the band. And YES Michelle, the WHOLE band!
